Christian Edwards comes into the 2020 season as one of the top closers in the nation.
As a freshman in 2018 he had a 1.91 ERA in 33 innings pitched with 55 strikeouts, 3 saves, and a WHIP of 0.91.
His ERA as a sophomore is a bit misleading at 4.99. The rest of his numbers show that he was just as dominate striking out 47 batters in 30.2 innings and holding opponents to just a .173 batting average.
He split time between the Valley League and Cape Cod League this past summer and posted a 0.73 ERA while only giving up 2 hits in 12.1 innings with 28 strikeouts.
Edwards did struggle with walks a little more in 2019, but you won’t find too many college pitchers with strikeout numbers like his.
