RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team released its 2020 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The 55-game slate features 32 games at Pitt Field and three neutral site contests. The Spiders will matchup with seven teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season. The Atlantic 10 schedule features both champions from last season as the Spiders will matchup with the Regular Season Champions VCU as well as host the A-10 Tournament Champions, Fordham.

Richmond opens the season in the Peach State for the second-straight year, this time taking on Georgia, a member of the SEC and a 2019 NCAA Regional host. The following seven games will be played at Pitt Field with the home opener slated for February 18th against James Madison. After a three-game series with Lehigh, Richmond will tri-host the Central Virginia Classic with William & Mary and James Madison. The three Virginia schools will host Georgetown, Wagner and West Virginia during the final weekend of February.

The Spiders will spend the next six games on the road, heading to Charlottesville for a midweek matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers on March 3rd. Richmond will play three neutral site games in Charleston, South Carolina at Shipyard Park against Purdue Fort Wayne on March 6th, Ball State on the 7th and Yale on the 8th. The Spiders will stay in the Palmetto State for a two-game midweek series with the Charleston Southern Buccaneers of the Big South Conference March 10th and 11th.

Richmond returns home to host its annual Spider Invitational March 13-15. With neutral site games being played at 10 a.m. throughout the weekend. The Spiders will play Harvard on Friday, Monmouth Saturday and UConn on Sunday all at 2 p.m. before returning to the field the very next day to take on Princeton at 3 p.m. Harvard will stick around the River City for a Wednesday matchup with the Spiders on the 18th.

Atlantic 10 Conference play begins on March 20th as the Spiders welcome the La Salle Explorers to Pitt Field for a three-game series. After a home midweek with VMI, Richmond will hit the road for its longest road trip of the season, taking on A-10 opponent, the UMass Minutemen, March 27-29 in Amherst, Mass. March will close on the road with a matchup in Harrisonburg with James Madison on the 31st.

After taking three of four games during the season and bouncing the 2019 A-10 Regular Season Champion VCU Rams from the postseason, Richmond and VCU will reignite the rivalry April 3-5 at The Diamond with the Rams playing host. A Tuesday midweek at William & Mary on the 7th sets up an eight-game homestand for the Spiders.

Richmond will face Davidson in an A-10 series April 10-12, Liberty in a midweek on the 14th and a three-game A-10 series with Saint Joseph’s April 17-19. The final home midweek contest with Norfolk State concludes the homestand on April 21st.

The next four games will be on the road for Richmond, as the Spiders will head to the nation’s capital for a three-game A-10 series with the George Washington Colonials April 24th-26th. A weekend series with Longwood beginning May 1 will be played in Farmville at 6 p.m., before the series shifts to Richmond for the final two games on Saturday and Sunday.

After a midweek game at Towson on May 6th, the Spiders will host the 2019 A-10 Tournament Champions, Fordham, for the final home games of the season. The Spiders and Rams will play May 8-10, with Sunday’s finale being played at 10 a.m. due to graduation.

The regular season concludes with a four-game road swing. The Spiders will take on ACC-foe Duke on May 12th in Durham before closing with a three-game set at George Mason May 14-16.

Richmond won’t travel far for the A-10 Tournament this season, venturing just down the road as VCU will be hosting this year’s event at The Diamond. Winning the A-10 Tournament would give the Spiders the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, and it would be the first time since 2003 that the Spiders would be in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
