Holy Cross baseball head coach Greg DiCenzo announced his team’s 52-game 2019 regular-season schedule on Tuesday, December 18. The 2019 schedule features contests against four conference champions and six teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2018.

“The upcoming 2019 schedule will, once again, fully challenge our players within the first few weeks of stepping onto the diamond,” DiCenzo said. “With stops through the Big 12, the Conference USA, the SEC and the ACC, we are eager to compete on the national stage. We certainly anticipate that the rigors of these first 20-plus games will prepare the squad for the outset of Patriot League play.”

The season opens up with four games in Waco, Texas, against the defending Big 12 Champions, Baylor University. The series begins on February 15 at 7:35 p.m. Eastern Time, followed by a doubleheader on the 16thand the series finale on the 17th.

From there, the Crusaders travel to play three games at the University of Alabama-Birmingham from February 22 to 24. The following weekend, Holy Cross will participate in the Mardi Gras Classic in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with four contests scheduled against Nicholls State and McNeese State from March 2 to 4.

The Crusaders will then head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on March 6 to play a single matchup against LSU, which has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 10 of the past 11 seasons. After that, Holy Cross will play three games at Southern Mississippi between March 8 and 10.

The Crusaders return to New England with their home opener at Fitton Field against Boston College on March 12 at 5 p.m. They will play a doubleheader at Northeastern University on March 16, followed by a home doubleheader against the Huskies on March 17. Holy Cross will then host UMass Amherst on March 19 at 5 p.m., followed by a road contest against UMass Lowell on March 20.

Patriot League play opens on March 23, with a home doubleheader against Navy, followed by a doubleheader against Bucknell at Fitton Field on March 24. The Crusaders will host Lehigh in a weekend series (March 30 and 31) before playing their first road conference games on April 6 and 7 at Navy.

The Crusaders continue their conference road stretch at Bucknell on April 13 and 14, followed by a single game at Army on April 17. Holy Cross will then return home for a three-game series against Lafayette on April 20 and 21 before hosting Army for a pair of doubleheaders on April 27 and 28.

Regular-season conference play will conclude with a doubleheader at Lafayette on May 4 and a doubleheader at Lehigh on May 5.

Other nonconference contests throughout the season include games at Harvard (March 26), vs. Dartmouth (April 3), at URI (April 10), vs. Hartford (April 24) and vs. Marist (May 1).

The Patriot League Semifinals are scheduled for May 11 and 12, with the Finals scheduled between May 17 and 19.

Holy Cross enters the 2019 season looking for its fifth straight conference postseason appearance. In 2018, the Crusaders finished with an 11-14 record in Patriot League play and an 18-27 record overall, with their season coming to a close against Navy in Game Three of a Patriot League Semifinal series.
