Arizona State releases 2015 Schedule

TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Baseball begins a new era in program history at Phoenix Municipal Stadium and the 2015 schedule, announced by head coach Tracy Smith, features 32 home games and 23 games against eight 2014 NCAA Tournament teams, including three that advanced to a Super Regional and one College World Series participant.

Arizona State begins the season with an 18-game homestand, including consecutive three-game home series’ against reigning Big 12 Conference champion and NCAA Super Regional host Oklahoma State Feb. 13-15 and College World Series participant TCU Feb. 20-22.
“Our 2015 schedule provides us with an opportunity to prove ourselves against some of the best teams in the nation as well showcase the new home of Sun Devil Baseball, “ said coach Smith, who was hired as the fifth head baseball coach in program history on June 24, 2014. “We are looking forward to moving into our new home as we begin the next chapter of ASU Baseball.”

The Devils’ season-opening homestand also includes other four games against 2014 NCAA Tournament teams, including a three-game set with Long Beach State March 6-8 and a midweek matchup with UNLV on March 11.
The inaugural Phoenix Muni Classic will run from Feb. 26 to March 1 and feature Cal State Bakersfield, Gonzaga and Purdue.

ASU begins Pac-12 Conference play at Phoenix Muni March 13-15 against Oregon State, the top overall seed in the 2014 NCAA Baseball Tournament, and also hosts Super Regional participant Stanford March 27-29, Arizona April 10-12, UCLA May 8-10 and Washington State May 15-17.
In addition to the three-game home conference series against the Wildcats, there is a pair of road non-conference contests April 22 and April 28, respectively, for a total of five Territorial Cup Series games.

The Devils make their first road trip of the season March 20-22 to take on Oregon at PK Park in Eugene, Ore., and also travel to Utah April 2-4, Washington April 17-19 and Cal May 1-3 before closing out the 2015 regular season with a three-game set against USC in Los Angeles May 22-24.
The remainder of ASU’s non-conference slate features a three-game series with Tennessee Tech April 24-26, midweek home games with New Mexico on March 18, New Mexico State on March 31 and Abilene Christian on May 19, and midweek road games at UNLV on April 7 and New Mexico on May 12.
NCAA Regionals begin on May 29 and the College World Series starts on June 13 in Omaha, Neb.

The West Coast leader in regular-season attendance for the past 10 seasons, the Devils return 26 letterwinners, including three All-Americans and four All-Conference honorees, and have added the eighth-ranked freshmen class in the nation. ASU secured its 52nd straight 30-win season in 2014, which is the longest current streak in Div. I baseball, and made the program’s 37th all-time NCAA postseason appearance.

Phoenix Muni played host to 137 ASU games from 1964-74, including District 7 Regionals in 1965 and 1967. ASU has a 111-26 all-time mark at Muni and the Devils’ last game at the stadium was a 9-6 win over Colorado on March 18, 1974.
