America East Conference Tournament Game 3: Stony Brook Eliminates Albany

StonyBrookTeamHuddleLowell, MA— Fourth seeded Stony Brook eliminated third seeded Albany 3-1 in game three of the America East Conference tournament. Brandon McNitt started on the mound for the Seawolves giving up five hits for one run through seven innings before Chad Lee came in to relieve him giving up two hits for no runs through his one inning of play. He battled out of a jam in the fifth inning as the Great Danes had loaded up the bases and were threatening to tie the game up at 2. Seawolves head coach Matt Senk visited McNitt to see how he was doing but decided to stick with him. “McNitt has been solid for us this year,” said Senk, “I thought he had good good stuff today so I thought he could get out of it.”

Joshua Mason finished the game on the mound for the Seawolves giving up no hits and no runs in the ninth inning. Hitting Standouts for Stony Brook included: Cole Peragine (2 for 5), Joshua Mason (1 for 4) scoring twice, Johnny Caputo (3 for 4) scoring once and picking up an RBI, and Brett Tenuto (1 for 3) picked up an RBI as well.

Austin Chase was on the hill for Albany giving up six hits for two runs through seven innings before being relieved by Kevin Archbold who gave up two hits for one run through the last two innings. Some notable standouts for Albany are Greg Muller (1 for 3) who picked up the team’s only RBI and Joey Tracy (1 for 4) who scored the only run.

With this win Stony Brook is set to take one the loser of game four (1) Maine vs. (2)Binghamton in game five on day three.
