CARY, N.C. – Right-hander Colin Bates tossed 5 2/3 shutout innings, and Greg Holt belted a two-run home run to lead the White team to a 3-0 win over the Blue squad in the second game of North Carolina’s Fall World Series Wednesday at Cary’s USA Baseball National Training Complex. With the win, the White team grabs a 2-0 lead in the first of two best-of-three series.

Bates allowed just three hits and three walks, while striking out six. Logan Munson and Bryant Gaines, who earned a save by recording the final three outs, combined for 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Righty Adam Warren struck out eight, including the first five batters he faced, for the Blue team. He allowed one run on four hits and a walk.

Tarron Robinson, who has the lone multi-hit game of the FWS, doubled twice and drove in the first run with a fourth-inning double that scored Holt, who walked.

Holt put the game away in the sixth with a two run home run into the parking lot off Nate Striz. Kyle Seager drew a leadoff walk and scored on the homer.

Action will resume Friday at 2:30 p.m. Despite White’s two victories (1-0 and 3-0), Blue can take series one with a victory by five or more runs Friday.
