Steve Gillispie named Head Coach at Youngstown State

Youngstown — Steve Gillispie, an experienced recruiter and instructor who has spent the past 11 seasons helping to build a powerhouse in the Ohio Valley Conference, has been named Head Baseball Coach at Youngstown State University. Cape Cod Baseball League Players of the Week (July 4th)

Left-handed batter Drew Dosch (Youngstown State) of the Falmouth Commodores made some key hits that earned him a current batting average of .368 and Coca Cola’s Player of the Week. In last Wednesday’s game against Cotuit, Dosch hit a two-out double in the seventh inning that helped earn the Commodores a 9-2 victory over the Kettleers. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: Horizon League

Wright State won the 2010 Horizon League Regular Season title with a 17-6 overall record. Milwaukee finished in the runners-up position a game back with a 17-8 record while Illinois-Chicago finished third with a 15-9 record. Valparaiso came in fourth at 9-10 and Butler finished 11-13 for a fifth place finish. Youngstown State came in sixth with a 9-17 record and Cleveland State rounded out the conference with a 5-20 mark. Continue reading
