Wofford releases 2015 Schedule

WoffordScheduleReleases_thumb.jpgSPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College announced the 2015 baseball schedule today, with 24 of the first 28 games of the season at home. A two-game road series against defending national champion Vanderbilt and trips to Clemson and South Carolina are also on the slate for head coach Todd Interdonato and his squad.

Last season, Wofford set the school record for wins with 32. The team also secured a winning record for the first time since 1992 and reached the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament for only the second time in school history. Continue reading Wofford releases 2015 Schedule

2014 Preseason Southern Conference Coaches and Media Poll

SoConLogoSPARTANBURG, S.C. – 2013 regular-season Southern Conference champion Western Carolina has been picked to defend its crown in 2014 in balloting of the league’s media and 10 head coaches.

The Catamounts, who went 39-20 overall and 23-7 in the league last season, picked up seven first-place votes and 78 points from the coaches, who could not vote for their own teams. WCU edged The Citadel, which earned 75 points and the remaining three first-place votes in the coaches’ poll. Western Carolina earned 167 points and 13 first-place votes from the media. 2011 Season Review:

  • Tournament Champion: Georgia Southern
  • Regular Season Champion: Elon
  • Conference RPI: #15
  • Conference ISR: #16

In 2010 the Southern Conference had a conference record 3 teams (Citadel, CofC and Elon) get in a regional. However, in 2011 only the tournament champion Georgia Southern (36-26 overall and 18-12 SOCON) received a NCAA bid. Regular season champion Elon (36-21 overall and 23-7 SOCON) along with CofC (39-22 overall and 18-12 SOCON), and Samford (37-23 overall and 18-12 SOCON) came up just short of a regional. UNCG who won just 7 conference games in 2010 finished just one game behind Elon in regular season at 22-8 in conference and 34-20 overall. +14 games overall and an amazing +15 in conference. Wofford hires Jason Burke as Assistant Coach

SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College baseball coach Todd Interdonato has announced that Jason Burke will be joining the staff as pitching coach. Burke was an assistant for the Terriers in 2006 and 2007 before spending the last four seasons at Gardner-Webb.

In 2011, Gardner-Webb advanced to the Big South Conference Tournament championship game. The school finished with a top-100 RPI for the first time in program history. The 34-23-1 record marked the program’s best season at the Division I level. Burke helped develop a strong bullpen that allowed Gardner-Webb to go 28-1-1 in games they held the lead in the eighth inning or later, and also tie the school record for saves in a season with 16.
