This wasn’t the ideal baseball weekend for our club, although the weather was terrific we came up short on our goals and expectations for this series. We faced great competition from one of the best teams in the country, Arizona State. They were exceptional at the plate and on the hill. Game 1: Arizona State 13 Wisconsin Milwaukee 5

TEMPE, Ariz. – Six home runs, including two each from Jason Kipnis and Carlos Ramirez, helped the No. 6 Arizona State University baseball team to a 13-5 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the opening game of a doubleheader Saturday at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. CBB Journal: Ricky Babcock Feb. 19th

The first two weeks of practice have gone very well. The players came back ready for practice and in great shape from off season workouts. The first few days went slowly trying to get everyone into the rhythm again, working with class schedules and making sure players were on time was half the battle. The other half was working with our facility schedule. Here at Milwaukee we are an urban campus that is land locked. We have a 93 acre campus on the upper east side of the city. UW-Milwaukee 2009 Season Preview

The Milwaukee Panthers had an up-and-down season in 2008, ending with a 25-36 record overall and a fifth-place showing in the Horizon League standings. But, it was the “up” that the season ended on that will be long remembered. Entering the Horizon League Tournament as the No. 5 seed, the Panthers played a special week of baseball, upsetting three different teams on the way to the tournament finale, where they came up just a victory away from their first NCAA Regional since the 2002 season. 2009 Horizon League Preseason Baseball Poll

INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Illinois at Chicago has been picked to win the 2009 Horizon League Baseball Championship in balloting by the conference’s seven head coaches.

UIC received 36 points and the maximum six first-place votes as coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. The Flames posted a 35-22 overall record and 17-6 Horizon League mark a season ago en route to their fourth conference crown in six years. I’m Ricky Babcock, a current student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the only D1 baseball program in the state, I was a catcher for the last two seasons but now I’m a student assistant for baseball operations. MILWAUKEE – Jonathan Capasso of Racine, Wis., Todd Hegbloom of Pulaski, Wis., Eric Semmelhack of Oak Creek, Wis., Robert Stone of Madison, Wis., and Jayme Sukowaty of Madison, Wis., have all signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, head coach Scott Doffek announced today. Milwaukee Baseball Announces Additions to 2009 Roster

MILWAUKEE – Head coach Scott Doffek has announced 11 more additions to the roster of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team for the upcoming season. Panthers 2009 College Baseball Schedule Now Available

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball coach Scott Doffek has made the 2009 schedule available to the general public. The schedule, which is still tentative at this time, again features a lengthy road stint (22 games) to begin the season, playing big-name teams like Arizona State and Michigan as the season begins. The home opener is scheduled for April 3rd against UIC.

Hood’s 10th-Inning RBI Single Lifts Northern Illinois to 3-2 Victory Over UW-Milwaukee

DeKALB, Ill. – A 10th-inning walkoff single by Jordin Hood (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) scored Danny Reed (Lindstrom, Minn./North Iowa Area CC) to lift Northern Illinois to a 3-2 victory over UW-Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon at Ralph McKinzie Field. The Huskies earned their third consecutive non-conference victory while improving to 10-14 overall.
