Rhode Island:  Keaney 3 Navy 2

Darkness forced the suspension of Game Two in the Keaney-Navy World Series on Friday evening, but when play resumed on Saturday, sophomore Joe Landi scored on redshirt junior Pat Fortunato’s single up the middle to give Keaney the 3-2 win, as well as its fifth consecutive KNWS title. Results from the fourth and final day of the first-ever NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, for May 15:

At Lubbock, TX:

#1 Lubbock Christian defeated #18 Wayland Baptist 15-6, to qualify for the Baseball National Championship tournament in Lewiston for the first time since 2006. Ross Blondin went 4-6 for the Chaparrals, with two doubles and a triple. Continue reading

Results from the third day of the first-ever NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, for May 14:

At Lubbock, TX:

#1 Lubbock Christian was upset by #18 Wayland Baptist 6-2. Marcus Limon pitched a complete game for the Pioneers, scattered nine hits, struck out 14. The Chaparrals’ starter, Jakob Cunningham, also went the distance, allowed eight hits, struck out nine. Continue reading

NAIA announces sites for sectional tournaments

The NAIA has announced the following locations for sectional tournaments, which will take place May 12-15:

Lindenwood University St. Charles, MO
Great Plains Athletic Conference Sioux City, IA

The winners of these nine tournaments will go to the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, ID May 22-29. The host team, Lewis-Clark State, gets an automatic bid, and does not participate in the sectional tournaments. Continue reading
