2011 Semifinalists for Pitcher of the Year

Sixteen teams are looking toward the Super Regionals and among those teams are seven players on the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Pitcher of the Year Semifinalist List.

The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award, presented by Diamond, will be announced in Lubbock, Texas, on July 3 as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Night of Champions. Continue reading 2011 Semifinalists for Pitcher of the Year

Foley’s Quick Hits for March 29th

Here are some of my thoughts from college baseball action that took place on March 29th.

  • Congrats to Will Roberts of Virginia for throwing a perfect game on Tuesday against the George Washington Colonials. Roberts struck out 10 batters getting three flyouts and 14 groundouts. The perfect game was only the 19th in NCAA Division 1 baseball history at any length and the first by a UVA pitcher in school history. It was also the first in Division 1 since 2002. Interesting enough, the second to last sentence of the George Washington press release is the first mention they make about the perfect game being tossed.  Continue reading Foley’s Quick Hits for March 29th
