Western Michigan hires two Coaches
KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Head baseball coach Billy Gernon has announced the addition of former Bronco Tim Cross and Montevallo assistant Matt Rademacher to the Western Michigan baseball staff. Cross will work with the Bronco outfielders and hitters, while Rademacher will be the assistant recruiting coordinator and will coach the Bronco catchers and hitters.

2012 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. Western Michigan Assistant Coach Brent Alwine Returns

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The start of the Western Michigan baseball season is usually greeted with great anticipation, but this year the team has another reason for excitement, as assistant coach Brent Alwine is set to make his return to the program, five months after being involved in a serious automobile accident.
Alwine was critically injured on the evening of Friday, Aug. 26, following an accident on I-94 eastbound with a semi. Alwine has made nearly a full recovery and will rejoin the Bronco baseball program moving forward for the 2012 season. The team begins small group workouts Jan. 17 and holds its first official team practice Jan. 27. Western Michigan also kicks off the season with its annual Leadoff Dinner, Jan. 28, at the Fetzer Center, with this year’s keynote speaker being WMU Hall Famer and former major-leaguer Matt Mieske. Western Michigan participates in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Head coach Billy Gernon and members of the bronco baseball team participated in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program at Moorsbridge Elementary School earlier this week.
Fuel Up to Play 60 (www.fueluptoplay60.com) is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council (NDC) and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to combat childhood obesity. Fuel Up to Play 60 helps students make positive changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich foods and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Darkness forced the suspension of Game Two in the Keaney-Navy World Series on Friday evening, but when play resumed on Saturday, sophomore Joe Landi scored on redshirt junior Pat Fortunato’s single up the middle to give Keaney the 3-2 win, as well as its fifth consecutive KNWS title. Washington: Gold 12 Purple 7
SEATTLE – The Gold Squad won game one, 12-7, as the Husky baseball team opened its annual Fall World Series Tuesday night at Husky Ballpark.
Freshmen Michael Camporeale and Robert Pehl each drove in three runs for the victorious Gold team. Junior college transfer Mac Acker picked up the win, going four innings and allowing four hits while striking out four. Austin Voth came on in the sixth inning of the seven-inning game and got the final out to preserve a 9-7 lead and Josh Fedendall closed it out in the seventh. Read the rest of this entry »
WMU Assistant Coach Brent Alwine Seriously Injured
Western Michigan Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Brent Alwine was seriously injured in a Friday evening around 6:15pm. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the hospital.
