Here is your National Recap for April 11th.

Rodon overused; Duke defeats NC State 2-0 behind Van Orden

The top story of the night was the absolute criminal overuse of Carlos Rodon by the NC State coaching staff in the Wolfpack’s 2-0 defeat to Duke. Rodon was working on short rest and threw 134 pitches in 7.2 innings. Rodon in the game broke the NC State school record with 391 in the win. Things are not getting better for the Wolfpack as they are now 19-14 overall while being 5-11 in ACC play. Continue reading


2014 Season Preview: ACC

2013 record: 12 – 40 (4 – 25 ACC, 6th place)

Finish: No postseason

To put it bluntly, the Boston College Eagles were out of their element in ACC conference play in 2013. The Eagles lost their first 20 conference games before surprisingly winning a home series with Miami to get off the schnide.

2014 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

ACCLogoGREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia has been selected as the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches.

The Cavaliers were named by 10 coaches as this year’s team to beat, while Florida State received four first-place votes. Continue reading

Wake Forest releases 2014 Schedule

WakeForestLogoWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Fifth-year head coach Tom Walter has announced the 2014 spring schedule for the Wake Forest baseball team.

The Demon Deacons will not be short on quality opponents when the 2014 season kicks off, as Wake Forest is set to play 23 games against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago. Of those 23 games, 12 will be played against teams that earned a top seed in last year’s tournament, and six more will be played against teams that earned a two seed. Continue reading

We continue the list today at number 97 with Wake Forest’s senior RHP Jack Fischer. While playing at St. Ignatius Prep in Chicago, the 6-foot-2, 175 pound Hindsdale, Ill. native started as a shortstop since his freshman year, with a .355 batting average, but also amassed a 11-2 record with a 1.38 ERA on the mound. 2013 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll

ACCLogoGREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State has been selected as the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

Wake Forest releases 2013 Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest head baseball coach Tom Walter has announced the team’s 2013 schedule, which includes 27 games against teams that participated in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship.

“This year’s schedule is formidable. With 27 games against teams that were in an NCAA Regional last year, we’ll need to be much more consistent than we were last season,” said Walter. “The good news is, I really like the make-up of our ballclub, and we have experience at the right positions. Wake Forest set to head to Dominican Republic in December

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest baseball team will be traveling to the Dominican Republic December 16-22 to play six games against local competition, as announced by head coach Tom Walter.

The international trip will serve as a finale to the Demon Deacons’ annual fall ball practice schedule. With the trip to the Dominican not occurring until December 16, Wake Forest will not begin fall practice until November 1. Continue reading
