Villanova releases 2015 Schedule

VillanovaTeamPhotoVILLANOVA, Pa.–Head coach Joe Godri, who begins his 14th year leading the Wildcats, announced his team’s schedule for the upcoming 2015 season on Tuesday afternoon. Villanova will play at least 24 home games during the regular season, with the 55-game schedule highlighted by six consecutive home weekends in March and April.

A large non-conference slate (37 games) gives the Wildcats a chance to face strong competition from around the country while taking the field against both traditional rivals and brand new opponents. When the calendar turns to the beginning of conference play, Villanova will play 18 regular season BIG EAST games and vie for one of four spots in the postseason conference tournament. 2015 Big East Preseason Poll Released

BigEast.jpgNEW YORK – For the second-straight season, the voting for preseason favorite is split by just one vote, this time in favor of St. John’s, who was the BIG EAST baseball coaches’ decision for No. 1 with 32 total points, three first-place votes. Creighton, last year’s regular-season champion was picked second with 31 points with Seton Hall a close third at 29 votes. Creighton and Seton Hall split the final four first-place votes evenly. 2014 Big East Preseason Conference Poll

BigEastLogoNEW YORK, N.Y. – Creighton, one of three conference newcomers this season, is the narrow favorite in BIG EAST baseball in 2014, according to the coaches poll announced on Thursday. The Bluejays claimed a poll-topping 32 points with two first-place votes, edging out Seton Hall and St. John’s for No. 1.

There was more good news for Creighton, as a league-high four players earned Preseason All-BIG EAST honors. Among them were senior outfielder Mike Gerber, who was named the Preseason Player of the Year, and sophomore hurler Tommy Strunc, who picked up Preseason Pitcher of the Year accolades. Villanova releases 2014 Schedule

VillanovaBaseball.jpgVILLANOVA, Pa.–Once the 2014 baseball season gets into full swing fans will have plenty of chances to see the baseball in action at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth. The schedule was announced this afternoon and the Wildcats will play 31 home games out of their 56-game regular season slate. 2013 Preseason Big East Coaches Poll Released

BigEastLogoPROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Louisville Cardinals, who tied for the 2012 BIG EAST regular-season title, have been tabbed as the favorites in 2013 by the league’s 11 head coaches.

The Cardinals, who advanced to the NCAA Championship for the seventh time in 2012, reaching the final of the Tucson Regional, received eight first-place votes and 98 points in the coaches’ preseason poll. Nick Weisheipl added to Villanova Coaching Staff

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Baseball head coach Joe Godri announced this week the hiring of Nick Weisheipl as an assistant coach with the team. Weisheipl will serve as the Villanova pitching coach and recruiting coordinator while being heavily involved in all aspects of the program.
