Valparaiso releases 2014 Schedule

SchmackBrianHead baseball coach Brian Schmack announced his club’s schedule for the 2014 season Thursday.

The Crusaders will open their season on Valentine’s Day when they head to Alabama to face Samford Feb. 14th-16th. They’ll make a return trip to the Heart of Dixie the following weekend for a three-game set with Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks went 22-8 in the Ohio Valley Conference last season. Valpo names Brian Schmack as Head Coach

SchmackBrianValparaiso University director of athletics Mark LaBarbera announced today that Brian Schmack has been named the 17th head coach in Crusader baseball history and just the sixth since 1946.

“We are very excited to have Brian Schmack leading our baseball program,” said LaBarbera. “Over the past couple of years, we have added another chapter of championship play to Valpo’s baseball tradition. This has been the result of hard work by many people, including Brian. Coach Schmack’s baseball knowledge, ability to recruit, to teach, and to develop young men both on and off the field make him the right person to be our head coach.” Continue reading

Richmond names Tracy Woodson as Head Coach

TracyWoodsonUNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond announced Monday that Tracy Woodson has been named the eighth head coach of the Spider Baseball program.

Woodson, a five-year MLB veteran and World Series Champion, will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Robins Center. Fans will be able to watch the press conference live for free at RichmondSpiders.com. Continue reading

Less than 24 hours after suffering one of the more disappointing losses in program history, Valpo showed remarkable resolve by rebounding from a late three-run deficit to defeat the Florida Gators 5-4 at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Indiana.
