2012 CBD Season Preview: Southland Conference
Last season was all about Texas State. The Bobcats went in with the top pitcher, and found out quickly they also had the top hitter in the Southland. RHP Carson Smith is gone, but 1B Casey Kalenkosky, an NJCAA All-American turned NCAA All-American, is back for another round. Coach Ty Harrington only lost a few starters on the field, and returned a strong nucleus of hitters to go along with a pitching staff that was more than capable of getting the team to the NCAA postseason. Cal-State Fullerton 10 Vanderbilt 8
Nashville, Tenn. – Greg Velazquez had two hits and three RBI and Austin Kingsolver had three hits and drove in two as Cal State Fullerton beat Vanderbilt, 10-8, in a nine-inning fall scrimmage Saturday morning at Hawkins Field.
The Titans are midway through their official fall workout period and made the trip to Nashville, Tenn., for a two-game practice series with the Commodores. Vanderbilt is wrapping up their official practice schedule this weekend with the Titans. Read the rest of this entry »
Southland Conference Tournament Day 3 Thoughts
Game 1: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3, UTSA 2.
- The Buckner family name is known famously for one play, but TAMU-CC 3B Bobby Buckner did a good job trying to change the family legacy. With 2 outs and a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the ninth, Buckner placed an 0-2 offering on top of the right-center wall for the game-winner. The shot knocked out the Roadrunners, and kept the Islanders alive to play against Stephen F. Austin at 4 PM. Read the rest of this entry »
