UNC-Asheville adds Aaron Rembert to Coaching Staff

AaronRembert ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Baseball Coach Tom Smith has announced the hiring of former Bulldog pitcher Aaron Rembert as an assistant coach upon approval of the Board of Trustees. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.

Rembert has served as the top assistant coach at nearby Mars Hill College for the past four years. He was one of the best pitchers to ever pitch at UNC Asheville as he was a member of the Bulldog program from 2000-2004.

Cone today has announced the hiring of Tom Smith as the Bulldogs new head baseball coach, upon approval of the school’s Board of Trustees. Willie Stewart Resigns at UNC-Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone has announced today that head baseball coach Willie Stewart is resigning effective June 12.

Here is your ACC recap for Febraury 20th. We saw the North Carolina Tar Heels jump off to a great start to the season with a 13-3 victory over VMI. The ACC had a strong day which saw them win 9 games while dropping only three games.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Garrett Gore and Mark Fleury each drove in three runs as No. 1 North Carolina broke open a tight game with a six-run fifth inning to claim a 13-3 win over VMI Friday at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium. All-America right-hander Alex White opened the Tar Heels’ brand-new facility in style with nine strikeouts over five innings to record his 20th career victory. ACC Weekend Preview: Feb. 20th-22nd

I will be covering the ACC in depth this season with weekly previews of the weekend ahead. I believe that the ACC is one of the premier conferences in the country even though no team in the conference has won the national championship since 1955 when Wake Forest grabbed the title. The ACC is expected to be won by the North Carolina Tar Heels who are led by two of the best pitchers in the conference with Alex White and Matt Harvey. Big South Announces Preseason Baseball Poll and Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina University’s baseball team has been voted the Big South Conference’s preseason favorite by the League’s Head Baseball Coaches, it was announced today by the Conference office. In addition, the coaches voted Radford senior infielder Alex Gregory (Great Falls, Va.) the Conference’s Preseason Player of the Year and Coastal Carolina junior Nick McCully (Lakeland, Fla.) the League’s Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
