Hi Everyone,

First off, Happy Holidays to everyone.  These past couple weeks have been a great time simply relaxing with family and friends. I hope everyone got to enjoy it as much as I did.

That being said, putting the holidays behind us simply means that we’re one step closer to the start of the 2012 college baseball season.  February 17th is right around the corner and I know that my teammates are all itching to get back to Rhody to continue preparing for the season. 2011 CBD Season Preview: Atlantic 10

The Charlotte 49ers dominated the Atlantic 10 conference in 2010 by winning the regular season title with a 20-7 conference record. Xavier finished two games back with a 18-9 record while Rhode Island finished in third place at 17-10. St. Louis and Fordham tied for fourth place with 15-12 records. George Washington and LaSalle tied for sixth with 14-13 records. Umass and St. Joe’s tied for eighth place at 13-14 while Dayton finished in tenth place at 12-15. Richmond, Duquesne, and Temple finished in a tie for eleventh at 10-17 while St. Bonaventure finished last at 8-19. Read the rest of this entry »

Franczek And Bradley Join UMass Baseball Staff

RyanFranczekUMassAMHERST, Mass. – Former Minuteman third baseman Ryan Franczek and recent Wheaton College graduate Ryan Bradley have joined the UMass baseball coaching staff, head coach Mike Stone announced on Monday. Both will begin their first season with the Minutemen in 2011, Franczek serving as an assistant coach and Bradley as a volunteer assistant.

“The addition of Ryan Franczek and Ryan Bradley provides us with two good young energetic assistant coaches,” said Stone. “Both are eager to learn and to adapt to the transition from player to coach. We look forward to what they both can bring to the improvement of our baseball program.”

NECBL Playoffs Recap for August 3rd

The second day of the NECBL playoffs took place on Tuesday August 3rd with only one series being completed while the other three series will go to a winner take all game 3 on Wednesday night. The Newport Gulls completed the sweep to advance to the NECBL Eastern Division Final with a 3-0 victory over the Laconia Muskrats. They will face the winner of the Sanford Mainers and North Shore Navigators series on Thursday evening in Newport. Sanford forced a deciding Game 3 on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over North Shore. The Danbury Westerners picked up a 5-3 victory over the Bristol Collegiate Baseball Club while North Adams Steeple Cats picked up a 6-4 victory over the Keene Swamp Bats.

ACC Recap for April 13th

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In a game that featured a bizarre turn of events even before the first pitch was thrown, sixth-ranked Florida State (26-7) did not allow a power outage to get the best of them on Tuesday night defeating seventh-ranked Florida (23-9) 3-2 on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.

"To say that is a happy clubhouse is an understatement," said head coach Mike Martin. "There are a lot of baseball games played in this yard and that one was about as well played by both teams. You saw outstanding pitching on both sides."

In front of a packed crowd of 6,526, the largest crowd of the season and eighth largest crowd all-time, the Seminoles scored early and received an outstanding pitching performance from freshman Scott Sitz to notch their third victory over the Gators this year, while clinching the regular season series taking three out of four from UF.
