2014 America East Preseason Coaches Poll

BinghamtonSlidingCAMBRIDGE, Mass. — For the first time in America East baseball history, two teams were selected as co-preseason favorites as Binghamton University and Stony Brook University tied atop the 2014 preseason coaches’ poll. Both teams received three first-place votes and 31 points in a vote of the league’s head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own team. NECBL Playoffs Recap for August 3rd

The second day of the NECBL playoffs took place on Tuesday August 3rd with only one series being completed while the other three series will go to a winner take all game 3 on Wednesday night. The Newport Gulls completed the sweep to advance to the NECBL Eastern Division Final with a 3-0 victory over the Laconia Muskrats. They will face the winner of the Sanford Mainers and North Shore Navigators series on Thursday evening in Newport. Sanford forced a deciding Game 3 on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over North Shore. The Danbury Westerners picked up a 5-3 victory over the Bristol Collegiate Baseball Club while North Adams Steeple Cats picked up a 6-4 victory over the Keene Swamp Bats.

Former UMass-Lowell manager Jim Stone set for Induction

JimStone Boston Globe correspondent John Vellante recently wrote a fantastic article on former UMass-Lowell manager Jim Stone who won over 800 games in his 37 year career. He had 11 NCAA Northeast Regional Appearances, two Division 2 College World Series Appearances and was named NEIBA Coach of the Year seven times while being named ABCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year on five occasions. He told Vellante that his biggest accomplishment was sending over 50 players onto professional baseball whether the minor leagues or independent ball. He is set to be inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame tonight.

2009 Northeast 10 Preseason Coaches Poll

(February 10, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been selected as the unanimous favorite in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Tuesday by the conference office. Harring Hails Largest Recruiting Class for 2009

LOWELL, MA (July 18, 2008) – Sophomore Matt Lawlor (Dracut, MA) and freshmen Patrick Devlin (Tewksbury, MA) and Vincent DePierro (Tewksbury, MA), each former Merrimack Valley Conference standouts, highlighted UMass Lowell’s 2008-09 incoming class, Head Coach Ken Harring announced Monday.

The class of 19 players – which includes 16 freshmen and three transfers – is the largest in Harring’s tenure as he enters his fifth season at UML.

The River Hawks are fresh of a 26-24 season (18-12 in the Northeast-10 Conference, tied for fourth) which saw them go 23-12 following a 3-12 start. UML advanced to the NE-10 Tournament before suffering an early exit at the hands of Pace University.
