BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech got strong pitching from starter Devin Burke, and both Andrew Rash and Chad Pinder hit solo home runs to lift the Hokies to a 9-1 victory over Coastal Carolina in an NCAA regional game at English Field on Saturday afternoon.

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Sooners were down but not out, rallying to defeat Coastal Carolina, 7-3, in their NCAA Regional opener at English Field Friday.

2013 Preseason Big East Coaches Poll Released

BigEastLogoPROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Louisville Cardinals, who tied for the 2012 BIG EAST regular-season title, have been tabbed as the favorites in 2013 by the league’s 11 head coaches.

The Cardinals, who advanced to the NCAA Championship for the seventh time in 2012, reaching the final of the Tucson Regional, received eight first-place votes and 98 points in the coaches’ preseason poll. Quinnipiac to name Ryan Fuller as Assistant Coach

Quinnipiac will name former UConn infielder Ryan Fuller as their new assistant coach this week. Fuller played the first two years of his college career at UConn-Avery Point before transferring to the main UConn campus in Storrs, CT for his final two seasons being named All-Big East Second Team as a junior. CBD Column: Thoughts from UConn Scout Day

On Friday, the Connecticut Huskies returned to J.O. Christian field for the first time since mid-May for the annual UConn Baseball Scout Day. Coming off a 31-27-1 season, which ended in a Big East Tournament loss to USF, the 2013 Huskies will have many young players who are poised to compete for starting jobs.
