The Troy baseball team will play 31 games at Riddle-Pace Field, including 12 of the first 15 games of the season, as head coach Bobby Pierce announced the schedule for the 2014 season on Tuesday.
Highlighted on the Trojans home slate are visits from Samford, Jacksonville State, ULM, Louisiana-Lafayette, Western Kentucky, UAB and South Alabama. Troy will play 39 of its 56 games inside the state of Alabama and will play 10 games against NCAA Regional teams from a year ago. Continue reading

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Brandon Brown drew a bases-loaded, walk-off walk in the ninth to cap a four-run inning as Troy defeated Alabama 9-8 in an elimination game at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Sunday.
No. 26 Troy (42-19) moves on to face No.9 Florida State on Sunday at 4 p.m. (CDT) in the Tallahassee Regional Championship at Dick Howser Stadium. The Trojans (42-19) will have to defeat the Seminoles (46-15) twice to advance to next week’s Super Regional. Continue reading

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama baseball team held on for a 3-2 win over the Savannah State Tigers in an elimination game in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Saturday afternoon from Dick Howser Stadium. “We’re not a bunting team. We’re not just trying to move guys over, we want to score.”
And score they have. 23 games into the season, the Trojans have crossed the plate 191 times, second only to South Alabama in the Sun Belt Conference (SBC). They lead the conference in team batting average, slugging, and on-base percentage. Continue reading

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending February 17 today. Troy junior outfielder Danny Collins was named National Hitter of the Week, while Georgia Tech senior right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Continue reading

NEW ORLEANS – The Florida Atlantic Owls have been tabbed as the preseason favorites to win the 2013 Sun Belt Conference baseball title, the league announced on Monday.
FAU won the SBC regular season title in 2012 behind a 32-22 overall record and a 19-8 record in SBC play. This season, the Owls return six starters from that squad and four starting pitchers, including 2013 All-SBC Preseason selections pitcher Austin Gomber and first baseman Mark Nelson. Continue reading

We continue the countdown today at number 83 Danny Collins from Troy University. The 6’2 205 pound junior infielder from Niceville High School in Niceville, Florida. He was a three year letter winner at Niceville hitting .420 with five homers with 27 RBI as a junior while hitting .390 with six homers and 30 RBI as a senior. Continue reading
