2011 Dick Howser Trophy Finalists Announced

OMAHA, Neb. – Two standouts who led their teams to the 2011 NCAA World Series and the Pacific-10 Conference season strikeout record-holder have been named as finalists for the 2011 Dick Howser Trophy presented by Easton Foundations in balloting by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in conjunction with the College Baseball Foundation, the Dick Howser Trophy committee and the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. NCBWA National Players of the Week (April 26th)

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 24th, today. UCF redshirt sophomore designated hitter D.J. Hicks and Southeast Missouri State redshirt junior third baseman Trenton Moses were named Co-National Hitters of the Week, while UCLA junior right-hander Trevor Bauer was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Continue reading

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 27, today. North Carolina freshman third baseman Colin Moran was named National Hitter of the Week, while UCLA junior right-hander Trevor Bauer was named National Pitcher of the Week. Top 100 Countdown: 8. Trevor Bauer (UCLA)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with number 8 in our countdown with UCLA junior RHP Trevor Bauer. He is from Valencia, California, and attended Hart High School. He ended up picking up two letters as he had an outstanding junior season which saw him go 12-0 with a 0.79 ERA while striking out 106 batters and walking 15 in 70.2 innings. As a junior, he earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division I honors and first-team All-Southern Section accolades from the California Baseball Coaches Association (CBCA). Bauer skipped his senior year of high school and enrolled at UCLA a year early. Continue reading
