TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo baseball program will compete in 56 games over the course of its 2013 campaign, Head Coach Cory Mee announced on Friday, Dec. 7. Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Kent State and defending MAC West Division Champion Central Michigan have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. Notre Dame recently announced on June 14th that they released Dave Schrage from his contract clearing the way for a new head coach for Notre Dame baseball. The Notre Dame job in the past has seen many great coaches come through South Bend including former Arizona State head coach Pat Murphy and current LSU head coach Paul Mainieri. They have also had some great players over the years from Wilie McGill from the late 1800’s to John Axford who made his major league debut on September 15th 2009. Over the last week or so, there has been some rumors across the nation on who will be the best coach for the Irish. Here are my top five if I was in charge of the search committee.

Cleveland, Ohio – Defending MAC Regular Season Champion Bowling Green and defending West Division Champion Ball State have been chosen by the league’s head coaches to win their respective divisions, released today by the league office. The Cardinals were also selected by six of the leagues head coaches to take home the 2010 MAC Tournament title.
The Falcons were followed by 2009 MAC Tournament Champion Kent State in the East, while Ohio was picked to finish third. Miami was selected to finish in fourth place, while Akron was tabbed to place fifth. Buffalo rounded out this year’s East Division predictions.

Stony Brook signs five for 2010-2011 Season
Stony Brook, N.Y. – Stony Brook University head baseball coach Matt Senk announced today that five student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball for Stony Brook beginning in 2011. The five player class is made up of Bryan Tatleman (South Windsor, Conn.), Kevin Courtney (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Frankie Vanderka (Levittown, N.Y.) , Josh Mason (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Mike Hubbard (Northridge, Calif.).
