As we continue to countdown to the first pitch of the 2013 season, we are running some of the best posters from schools across the country. The team we feature today is the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They enter the season coming off a 2012 season which saw them go 29-26 overall and 7-17 in Big 12 play. This will be the first year for the Red Raiders under Tim Tadlock who takes over the program from Dan Spencer. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be counting down the players day-by-day until we reach number 1.
Number 61 on our Top 100 Countdown is Texas Tech junior pitcher Trey Masek. The Giddings, Texas native attended Giddings High School where he was a four year varsity letter winner. The Red Raiders 56-game schedule is highlighted by 30 home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, a midweek series in Tucson, Ariz., against defending NCAA national champion Arizona, playing 25 games against 10 opponents that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and taking on eight conference champions from last season. LUBBOCK, Texas – Nearing the completion of his first coaching staff as head coach at Texas Tech, Tim Tadlock has hired Joe Hughes as the program’s director of baseball operations.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico baseball team is proud to announce the hiring of Dan Spencer as its new pitching coach. Spencer joins the Lobos after spending the last four seasons as the head coach of Texas Tech, compiling a 115-112 record.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Tim Tadlock hired the first assistant to his coaching staff on Wednesday with the addition of J-Bob Thomas, who will work primarily with the Red Raider catchers and assist with the team’s hitters.

Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer has been fired according to sources close to the situation. The school has scheduled a 10:30am press conference to announce the move on Monday. Spencer came to Texas Tech in 2008 from Oregon State where he was the associate head coach for the Beavers back to back national championships. He took the same position at Texas Tech for 2008 before taking over for retiring head coach Larry Hays before taking over as the head coach for the 2009 season.
