Texas Tech releases 2013 Schedule

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech first-year head baseball coach Tim Tadlock announced the Red Raiders 2013 baseball schedule Wednesday morning.

The Red Raiders 56-game schedule is highlighted by 30 home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, a midweek series in Tucson, Ariz., against defending NCAA national champion Arizona, playing 25 games against 10 opponents that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and taking on eight conference champions from last season. Texas Tech names Joe Hughes as Director of Baseball Operations

LUBBOCK, Texas – Nearing the completion of his first coaching staff as head coach at Texas Tech, Tim Tadlock has hired Joe Hughes as the program’s director of baseball operations.

Hughes played under Tadlock at both Grayson County College (2004-05) and Oklahoma (2006-07) while spending the past year as an assistant director of event management at Oklahoma. Continue reading


New Mexico hires Dan Spencer as Pitching Coach

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico baseball team is proud to announce the hiring of Dan Spencer as its new pitching coach. Spencer joins the Lobos after spending the last four seasons as the head coach of Texas Tech, compiling a 115-112 record.

Texas Tech names Ray Hayward as Pitching Coach

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Tim Tadlock announced the hiring of Ray Hayward as the Red Raiders pitching coach on Tuesday.

“When the thought of getting Ray on board came to mind, I thought he was overqualified to be available to teach and mentor on our staff,” Tadlock said. “His pedigree along with the combination of teaching and evaluating and all of the experience he brings to the table is something that all of us will benefit and grow from.” Continue reading


J-Bob Thomas named Texas Tech Assistant Coach

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Tim Tadlock hired the first assistant to his coaching staff on Wednesday with the addition of J-Bob Thomas, who will work primarily with the Red Raider catchers and assist with the team’s hitters.

Thomas, 29, spent the previous seven seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Howard College. Continue reading


Texas Tech hires Tim Tadlock as Head Coach

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt has removed the interim tag and named Tim Tadlock the ninth head baseball coach in school history.

Tadlock will be formally introduced at a news conference tomorrow at noon inside the stadium club at Rip Griffin Park. The news conference will be streamed live on texastech.com. Continue reading


Dan Spencer out at Texas Tech

Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer has been fired according to sources close to the situation. The school has scheduled a 10:30am press conference to announce the move on Monday. Spencer came to Texas Tech in 2008 from Oregon State where he was the associate head coach for the Beavers back to back national championships. He took the same position at Texas Tech for 2008 before taking over for retiring head coach Larry Hays before taking over as the head coach for the 2009 season. The Red Raiders went 29-26 in 2012 while going 7-17 in Big 12 play. Continue reading


2012 Houston College Classic Tournament Team Announced

HOUSTON, TX — The three-day Houston College Classic baseball tournament (March 2-4) concluded tonight at Minute Maid Park, with Arkansas, Rice and the University of Houston each finishing with 2-1 records. Tennessee, Texas and Texas Tech rounded out the field with 1-2 marks.

Each team placed at least one player on the 2012 Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team, which was highlighted by the Classic’s Most Outstanding Player P Jordan Stephens from Rice, who pitched 7.0 scoreless frames in tonight’s nightcap. Continue reading
