Austin, Texas – Junior Mitchell Pitts took the mound for the team’s elimination game on Saturday against Princeton and delivered a strong performance in leading the Bobcats to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Texas State remains alive in the double-elimination Austin Regional played at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and will take on the loser of the Texas/Kent State game, which will be played tonight at 6:30 p.m., tomorrow at 1 p.m.  Continue reading

AUSTIN, Texas — Sophomore pinch hitter Jason Bagoly (Austintown, Ohio) delivered the game-winning RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to push No. 3-seeded Kent State baseball team to a 4-2 triumph over No. 2-seeded Texas State today (June 3) in the opening game of the Austin Regional of the 2011 NCAA Championship at the University of Texas’s UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Game 1: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3, UTSA 2.

  • The Buckner family name is known famously for one play, but TAMU-CC 3B Bobby Buckner did a good job trying to change the family legacy. With 2 outs and a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the ninth, Buckner placed an 0-2 offering on top of the right-center wall for the game-winner. The shot knocked out the Roadrunners, and kept the Islanders alive to play against Stephen F. Austin at 4 PM. Continue reading

NCBWA Names Pro-Line Athletic National Players of the Week (May 10th)

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending May 8, today. Michigan State senior 1B Jeff Holm was named National Hitter of the Week, while Kentucky junior RHP Alex Meyer and Texas State junior RHP Carson Smith were named Co-National Hitters of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Continue reading
