DENVER, CO – Bakersfield has been selected as the favorite to win the 2014 Western Athletic Conference regular season baseball crown in a vote by the league’s 10 head coaches.

At Estadio Jose Pepito Bonano in Guaynabo, the Ripken League Stars played to a 4-4 tie after ten innings with the Juncos, a team of college, junior college, and Puerto Rican Double-A ballplayers, when the Juncos ran out of pitchers for the game.
Down 1-0, Alex Frederick (University of North Carolina-Greensboro/Baltimore Redbirds) doubled home Stuart MacInnes (University of Texas-Pan American/Rockville Express), who tripled with two outs in the second inning, to tie the game.
Matt Marquis (University of Maryland/Silver-Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts) raced home on a wild pitch to cap a wild finish at Estadio Municipal Jesus Maria Freire in Cidra, Puerto Rico, giving the traveling Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League All-Stars a 3-2 win over the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) on Wednesday night.
The University of Texas-Pan American baseball program announced its 2009 schedule on Tuesday (Dec. 20) which have the Broncs hosting 23 home games, competing in three regular season tournaments (the Al Ogletree Classic, the Whataburger Classic and the Notre Dame Classic) and the National Independent Tournament.
