Hinojosa, Juengel and Varner Earn Week 8 Honors
Joaquin Hinojosa, Brazos Valley Bombers
Hinojosa used the week to demonstrate his prowess both at the plate and on the mound. He batted .333 with two home runs, vaulting himself into a tie for the league lead in homers. The two-way star also picked up a pair of saves as the Bombers’ closer, grabbing a share of the TCL lead in that category as well. The sophomore starred at Texarkana College last spring and will be headed to Texas A&M in the fall.
Player of the Week
Jake Luce, McKinney Marshals
Luce led all hitters for the week with a .500 average (8-for-16), adding two doubles and a triple for a .750 slugging percentage. He scored five runs and drove in seven more, accounting for 44% of the Marshals’ runs in the five games he played this week. The Jefferson College outfielder will be returning to the Vikings for his sophomore year in the fall.
