Southland Conference Tournament Day 3 Thoughts

Game 1: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3, UTSA 2.

  • The Buckner family name is known famously for one play, but TAMU-CC 3B Bobby Buckner did a good job trying to change the family legacy. With 2 outs and a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the ninth, Buckner placed an 0-2 offering on top of the right-center wall for the game-winner. The shot knocked out the Roadrunners, and kept the Islanders alive to play against Stephen F. Austin at 4 PM. Continue reading

West Coast Weekend Preview…Let it Snow?

The Bay Area is scheduled for some nasty weather this weekend, and there’s even snow possibly in the forecast in San Francisco for the first time since the 1970′s.  The USF Dons (0-4) look to turn around its season after a rough opening stretch against UCLA as they play UC Davis in a home/away/home series this weekend.  Weather will probably get in the way Friday with a double dip sometime either Saturday or Sunday.  I spoke with USF Head Coach Nino Giarratano this week about his teams efforts to rebound over the weekend.

Texas A&M Corpus Christi releases 2011 Schedule

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi baseball team will play host to 26 contests – nine at Whataburger Field, including a home matchup against Texas on April 5, as part of its 2011 schedule, head coach Scott Malone announced today. The Islanders will also host a strong field at the Kleberg Bank College Classic in addition to road contests against national powers Texas, Texas Tech and Rice. Continue reading
