CBD Column: Pac-12 Weekend Preview
UCLA at Baylor
The No. 6 ranked Bruins will travel to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Bears this weekend. It will be UCLA’s first visit to Baylor in program history. UCLA (2-1) is coming off a series victory against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Bruins dropped the opener 6-2 in 10 innings Friday night, but rallied on Saturday by defeating the Gophers 14-0. On Sunday, sophomore starter Grant Watson kept the Gophers quiet by throwing six scoreless innings and tallying a career high eight strikeouts. Baylor (1-3) is coming off a win at home Tuesday against Texas State. The Bears were swept on the road at UC Irvine last weekend. Read the rest of this entry »
CBD Visit: UNLV takes 3 out of 4 from Tennessee
The UNLV Rebels hosted the Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend with the Rebels winning three out of four games. All three games were highly contested with all three Rebels wins by a run including a 14 inning victory in the series finale. You can check out my notes from the weekend below. 2013 SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Arkansas Razorbacks are predicted to win the 2013 Southeastern Conference baseball championship, as voted by the league’s 14 baseball coaches in the 22nd annual preseason SEC poll.
The Razorbacks, ranked No. 1 nationally in the preseason USA Today Coaches’ Poll, seek to capture their third SEC Championship and first since 2004. Arkansas returns five position starters and 10 pitchers from its 2012 squad which advanced to the College World Series semifinals. Read the rest of this entry »
2013 CBD Season Preview: SEC East
The South Carolina streak came to an end last season as the Arizona Wildcats overpowered Ray Tanner’s squad en route to a national championship, booting the SEC from the spotlight of college baseball. Tennessee’s Serrano and Godley Reflect on Summer

Dave Serrano wanted to one day become the head coach of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, but he didn’t think it would happen as soon as it did.
“I was very humbled and very proud to be selected,” Serrano said. “I had been the assistant in 2010 and I knew there’s a process to that. You have to be the assistant before you can be the head coach. I didn’t know that it would happen so quickly.” Read the rest of this entry »
