2013 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll

OklahomaOmaha.jpgOklahoma has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2013 Big 12 baseball regular season. In a vote by the league’s head coaches, the Sooners earned six first-place votes, totaling 62 points. League newcomer TCU tallied the remaining three first-place votes and 55 points for the second place spot.
This marks the second time the Sooners have been tabbed to win the Conference’s regular season title. In 2011, OU also received six first-place votes. Oklahoma has never claimed a Big 12 title and has won the postseason crown on just one occasion – at the inaugural event in 1997. Continue reading


TCU releases 2013 Schedule

FORT WORTH – TCU baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle released the 2013 scheduled today. The 53-game slate features 29 home contests and 17 games against teams that advanced to postseason play in 2012.

“We are looking forward to our first season in the Big 12 and a very challenging non-conference schedule in 2013,” said Schlossnagle. “With the recent and very significant changes in how the RPI is calculated, it is essential that we schedule quality opponents on the road when possible. I trust that all TCU fans will make plans to buy season tickets and attend as many games as their schedules will allow.” Continue reading


TCU’s Jim Schlossnagle named 2013 USA Collegiate Team Manager

DURHAM, N.C. — USA Baseball announced Thursday the naming of Jim Schlossnagle as manager of the 2013 Collegiate National Team. The Texas Christian University (TCU) head coach will be making his managerial debut for Team USA. He previously wore the red, white and blue as pitching coach of the 2006 Collegiate team. Jim Schlossnagle Talks About TCU’s Disappointing Weekend at Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. — Texas Christian and Cal State Fullerton battled back and forth all weekend at Goodwin Field. But in the end Cal State Fullerton was able to take the series with a wild travel curfew shortened 11-10 win Sunday afternoon after the teams had split the first two dramatic games.

Keegan Dale is greeted after scoring.FULLERTON, Calif. — The Cal State Fullerton Titans held on for a wild 11-10 win over Texas Christian Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field. The Titans rode a nine-run fourth inning to a travel curfew shortened eight inning victory to take the weekend series against the visiting Horned Frogs.

Just as the first two games had, the series rubber match came down to the final inning.  Fullerton got out of a bases loaded jam with a play that head coach Rich Vanderhook said he didn’t remember ever seeing.
