2011 CBD Season Preview: Atlantic 10

The Charlotte 49ers dominated the Atlantic 10 conference in 2010 by winning the regular season title with a 20-7 conference record. Xavier finished two games back with a 18-9 record while Rhode Island finished in third place at 17-10. St. Louis and Fordham tied for fourth place with 15-12 records. George Washington and LaSalle tied for sixth with 14-13 records. Umass and St. Joe’s tied for eighth place at 13-14 while Dayton finished in tenth place at 12-15. Joe Tremoglie added to St. Joe’s Coaching Staff

St.JoesBaseballPHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s head baseball coach Fritz Hamburg has announced the addition of former Hawk baseball player and assistant coach Joe Tremoglie to the SJU coaching staff. The 1996 graduate will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Friday’s Thoughts

BinghamtonPhoto Here are my thoughts about the college baseball action that took place on March 5th.

The San Diego Toreros were nearly a consensus pick receiving six out of eight first place votes in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll. They have failed to live up to the expectations as they have started the season 4-6 including getting shutout today by a solid Kentucky squad. The biggest issue I see with the Toreros is the fact they have a team ERA of 5.35 which is unacceptable with the caliber of the pitching staff led by Sammy Solis, Kyle Blair, and AJ Griffin. They will have  to wait a day for their chance to take out some frustration as they play Sunday against Monmouth.
