2014 Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches Poll

Atlantic10_Main_LogoNEWPORT NEWS, VA – Reigning champion Saint Louis has been picked atop the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.

SLU received 11 of the 12 first-place votes for 143 points. VCU nabbed the remaining first-place nod and a total of 122 points which was good for second-place, two points better than Rhode Island which placed third.  Richmond was slotted in fourth-place with 104 points, followed by the A-10’s newest member George Mason in fifth with 90 points.

Saint Joseph’s (81 pts.) and George Washington (68 pts.) finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, followed by La Salle (60 pts.), Fordham (43 pts.), Dayton (40 pts.), Massachusetts (36 pts.) and St. Bonaventure (29 pts.). Continue reading

St. Bonaventure Baseball Player Andrew Revello Passes Away

AndrewRevelloST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure University community is mourning the loss of redshirt junior Andrew Revello, 22, who died Wednesday as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident June 1 in Butler Township, Pa.

A native of Highland Heights, Ohio, Revello was an accounting major and a starting pitcher on St. Bonaventure’s baseball team. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: Atlantic 10

The Charlotte 49ers dominated the Atlantic 10 conference in 2010 by winning the regular season title with a 20-7 conference record. Xavier finished two games back with a 18-9 record while Rhode Island finished in third place at 17-10. St. Louis and Fordham tied for fourth place with 15-12 records. George Washington and LaSalle tied for sixth with 14-13 records. Umass and St. Joe’s tied for eighth place at 13-14 while Dayton finished in tenth place at 12-15. Richmond, Duquesne, and Temple finished in a tie for eleventh at 10-17 while St. Bonaventure finished last at 8-19. Continue reading

Dayton picked to win A-10 Title by League Coaches

DaytonBaseball NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After winning a program-record 38 games and capturing its first-ever regular season crown a year ago, Dayton has been selected to win the 2010 Atlantic 10 baseball title in voting conducted by the league’s head coaches.

Four-time champion Charlotte has been picked second, while defending league champ Xavier is third.

Riverbats win NYCBL Championship in 10 Innings

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Championship Series’ Most Valuable Player Ryan Nokelby (Texas Lutheran) plated Jeff Abrams (Binghamton) with a 10th-inning sacrifice fly as the Brockport Riverbats edged the Glens Falls Golden Eagles, 3-2, in 10 innings to win the 2008 New York Collegiate Baseball League championship. The Riverbats won the best-of-three series, two games to one. The title is the first in the five-year history of the franchise. Continue reading

Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State (6-0) remained undefeated on the season with a 4-3 victory over Auburn (4-3) in front of a crowd of 6,544, the fourth largest crowd to witness a game at Dick Howser Stadium. In the Atlantic 10, he lists Charlotte as the clear favorite with Richmond, Fordham, and St. Bonaventure as contenders. His darkhorse in the conference is Xavier.
