BobbyMorandaWesternCarolina_thumb.jpgCullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina and seventh-year head coach Bobby Moranda today unveiled the 2014 Catamount baseball schedule that includes nine opponents that won 30-or-more games last spring. WCU’s 56-game slate features a rigorous 27-game Southern Conference slate and five nonconference home-and-home mid-week series, as well as the second west coast trip in program history with a four-game set scheduled for Pullman, Wash., at Washington State. Elon releases 2014 Schedule

ElonPhoenix.jpgELON, N.C. — Coming off of a season in which it won the Southern Conference Tournament and reached an NCAA Regional final, the Elon University baseball program has announced the 56-game schedule that the Phoenix will face this spring. The 2014 slate will include 33 dates at Latham Park, while the maroon and gold will play 10 games against teams that participated in the NCAA tournament a year ago. A few weeks ago we held our annual Black vs. Gold World Series here at Appalachian that marked the end to our fall season. The Black team made a statement with a 3-0 sweep of the Gold team, led by World Series MVP, sophomore shortstop Dillon Dobson. Appalachian State releases 2014 Schedule

AppStateBOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University baseball head coach Billy Jones announced his team’s 2014 schedule on Monday. The 56-game regular-season slate is perhaps the most ambitious in program history with 15 games against teams that advanced to postseason play last season (including two College World Series participants) and 17 of the 29 non-conference contests featuring opponents from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Southeastern Conference and Big Ten. zupcicjournalHello college baseball fans. Let me start my first blog by giving you a little background information on myself. My name is Ty Zupcic, and I am a redshirt senior outfielder on the Appalachian State University baseball team. Yes, the school that beat Michigan a few years back on the football field. I am majoring in journalism with a minor in leadership studies and plan on graduating next spring. Baseball has been a part of my life ever since I was born. I was fortunate enough to grow up with my father, Bob Zupcic, playing Major League Baseball player for the Boston Red Sox in the early 1990s. 2014 Top 100 Players Countdown: 99. Max Povse (UNC Greensboro)

MaxPovseUNCGCollege Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today at number 99 with UNC Greensboro junior RHP Max Povse from Green Hope High School and Cary, North Carolina. He was a four varsity letterwinner at Green Hope High School and was drafted in the 42nd round selection by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft where he won all-conference honors as a senior. Head Coach Rodney Hennon is prepared to lead his team into their final Southern Conference season before moving to the Sun Belt Conference in 2015. 2013 Charlottesville NCAA Regional Day 3 Recap

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A three-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning erased a 4-3 deficit as the Elon Phoenix eliminated the UNC Wilmington Seahawks from the Charlotteville Regional by a 6-4 score on Sunday afternoon.
