Seton Hall to host Strike Out Cancer Tournament

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — On Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15, the Seton Hall Pirates baseball team will host the first annual Rawlings Strike Out Cancer Tournament as they welcome NJIT, Iona, and Northeastern to Owen T. Carroll Field on the campus of Seton Hall University. As the sponsor, Rawlings will be donating t-shirts to the four teams, as well as selling them to fans in attendance. Continue reading

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Due to the recent unavailability of Progress Energy Park, the schedule for the inaugural BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge has been adjusted to include games at McKechnie Field in Bradenton and Red McEwen Field at the University of South Florida. The BIG EAST-Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, begins on Friday, Feb. 20.

Big East/Big Ten Challenge Home and Away teams Announcement

PETERSBURG, FL – The home and away team designations for the inaugural BIG EAST-Big TEN Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, have been determined by the participating conference offices, it was announced today. Louisville Unanimous Favorite To Win BIG EAST Baseball Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Louisville, the 2008 BIG EAST tournament champion, has been unanimously chosen as the favorite to win the 2009 conference championship by the 12 BIG EAST head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams. In addition, Louisville swept both 2009 preseason individual honors. Junior third baseman Chris Dominguez was honored as Preseason Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, while junior Justin Marks was unanimously selected as Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

PETERSBURG, FL – The schedule for the inaugural BIG EAST/Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, has been released, API Management and Marketing announced today. Twenty-seven games will be held February 20-22, 2009, at venues in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Dunedin, FL, highlighted by Friday and Saturday evening doubleheaders at Knology Park and Bright House Field. Two of the nation’s most prominent collegiate athletic conferences have come to an agreement to participate in a unique and ground-breaking season-opening baseball tournament in Florida. The inaugural BIG EAST/Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, will feature 27 games February 20-22, 2009, at various spring training venues in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area, API Marketing announced today.
