TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mike McGee has spent the past few weeks tuning up his bat in the cage with assistant coach Mike Martin, Jr. The senior All-American’s performance in Saturday’s 16-3 rout of Hoftrsa left little doubt that he’s hitting on all cylinders.

No. 1 Florida (6-0) plated three runs in the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie en route to a 9-3 victory over Boston College (2-3) on Friday night. The Gators’ 20th-straight win at McKethan Stadium secured the weekend series, which will wrap up on Sunday at 1 p.m. Junior Preston Tucker (Tampa, Fla.) was 3-for-4 with a homer and drew a bases-loaded walk with one down in the seventh that brought in senior Bryson Smith(Watkinsville, Ga.) with the winning run. Freshman Daniel Gibson (Lutz, Fla.) (1-0) earned his first collegiate win, while sophomore starter Hudson Randall (Atlanta, Ga.) permitted one run in five innings of work. The Big East Conference had an outstanding season in 2010 having St. John’s, Louisville, and UConn make the NCAA Tournament including two of them hosting Regionals. 2011 Big East Baseball Preseason Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After winning a school-record 48 games and advancing to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 1994, Connecticut has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2011 BIG EAST baseball championship by the league’s 12 head coaches.

The Huskies received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes in the preseason poll. The coaches also chose Connecticut outfielder George Springer as the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year and named righthanded pitcher Matt Barnes the BIG EAST Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Seton Hall releases 2011 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall baseball team has announced their schedule for the 2011 season.

The Pirates will open the year with 13-straight road games including the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge, a trip to Chapel Hill for three-games against North Carolina, and a spring break trip to Florida where they will face Florida International, Florida Atlantic, and a neutral site game against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. 2011 Big East/Big Ten Baseball Challenge Schedule Announced

BigEastLogoPROVIDENCE, R.I. – The schedule has been finalized for the 2011 BIG EAST/Big Ten Baseball Challenge, hosted by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, as announced by the BIG EAST and Big Ten conference offices Tuesday. Triple-headers on Friday and Saturday highlight a slate that features 24 games over three days, Feb. 18-20, 2011, at current and former major league facilities in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., area.

Big 12 Recap for February 20th

Here is your Big 12 recap for February 20th:

New Mexico 6 #1 Texas 5

TexasTechPhoto AUSTIN, Texas – Down a run in the final inning to the No. 1 college baseball team in America. At their place! No big deal. These are Ray Birmingham Lobos, who step to the plate with no fear in their heart and fearsome bats in their hands.

What the Lobos/Davids of New Mexico kind of did Saturday in Austin was reach into a back pocket, pull out a slingshot and knock Goliath on his rear in a stunning 6-5 Lobo win.

The first stone out of the Lobo slingshot in the ninth was a Justin Howard solo homer that pushed New Mexico into a 5-all tie.

The Lobos then nailed the win off a Max Willett bomb to deep left field that scored true freshman Devon Conley from third.
