St. Mary’s releases 2012 Schedule

MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary’s baseball head coach Jedd Soto has announced the baseball team’s 2012 schedule. The season includes 28 home games at the Gaels’ newly renovated baseball complex, with 12 home contests against West Coast Conference opponents Pepperdine, Gonzaga, newest conference member BYU, and 2011 WCC Champion San Francisco. Construction Begins On New SMC Baseball Stadium

Top Storylines this Weekend March 11th-13th

Here are some of our top series for this weekend.

#11 UCLA has dropped consecutive weekend series’ to San Jose State and Nebraska, and hopes to turn it around this weekend.  St. Mary’s (CA) and Georgia travel to Los Angeles to participate in the series.  It would have been great to see UCLA and St. Mary’s face off on Friday, as we would have seen Gerrit Cole go head to head with Mark Anderson, who has had consecutive stellar outings against Oregon and UC-Irvine, throwing a complete game shutout against the previously unbeaten Anteaters. West Coast Weekend Preview…Let it Snow?

The Bay Area is scheduled for some nasty weather this weekend, and there’s even snow possibly in the forecast in San Francisco for the first time since the 1970′s.  The USF Dons (0-4) look to turn around its season after a rough opening stretch against UCLA as they play UC Davis in a home/away/home series this weekend.  Weather will probably get in the way Friday with a double dip sometime either Saturday or Sunday.  I spoke with USF Head Coach Nino Giarratano this week about his teams efforts to rebound over the weekend.

2011 West Coast Conference Coaches Poll

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – With the first pitch of the 2011 season barely a week away, the University of San Diego is a unanimous selection to repeat as the West Coast Conference champions, garnering all seven possible first place votes and 49 points in a preseason poll of the eight WCC head coaches, announced Thursday. The conference also announced its preseason all-conference team, as voted on by the head coaches. Continue reading

2011 Bay Area Media Day

The 2011 Bay Area Media Day is set to begin today at 2pm Eastern/11 am Pacific at Stanford University. The teams featured including the host Cardinal are California, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and San Francisco.
