FAIRFIELD, CT – Sacred Heart baseball coach Nick Giaquinto announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent (NLI) for the 2011 season. The group includes a pair of switch-hitting catchers and two right handed pitchers.
Two of the players, Dan Perez and Kody Kerski, are both Connecticut natives, while Derick Horn and Robbie Maguire are from New York State.
Somerset, NJ — Monmouth won five first-place votes to find itself in its familiar position atop the Northeast Conference baseball preseason poll. The Hawks have earned the moniker of NEC preseason favorite in three of the past four years. Central Connecticut State collected two first-place nods to finish second in the vote by the conference’s eight head coaches followed by Wagner which garnered the remaining first-place vote in third. We recently saw the Big East and Big Ten set up an interconference matchups of games in Florida but we recently found out the America East and the Northeast conference will be playing a similar tournament from March 27th-29th. The three teams from the America East conference will visit the Northeast conference members over the three days where they will play single games on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday. Somerset, NJ — Defending Northeast Conference champion Monmouth sits atop the 2008 NEC Baseball Coaches Poll as the favorite to capture its fourth league title. The Hawks received six first-place nods to finish ahead of Quinnipiac in the voting. Central Connecticut State, a three-time champion this decade, claimed third.
