Kendall Rogers continues his series of conference reports heading into Fall Practice with the Big 12. He states that the Big 12 on paper is slightly down from where they have been in the past couple of years but as I always say when the pedal gets to the metal in February we will see how strong the Big 12 actually is.
Kendall Rogers of Rivals had an interesting article a few weeks ago on how San Diego State will handle the press that Strasburg gave the Aztec program. I agree that any press for college baseball is great but I think the biggest improvement in the SDSU program will come from Eric Valenzuela taking over the recruiting/pitching coach duties this season. (FULL STORY). He has handled the great pitching staffs of the San Diego Toreros including Brian Matusz and Josh Romanski so he should be able to bring in some great talent into the Aztec program both on the mound and at the plate.
Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com recently has been checking in on some programs which have some major holes to fill while other programs are looking to just fill in minor holes here and there as they looks to make a run to the College World Series. One example of a program facing some major holes to fill is LSU who lost number 1 starter Louis Coleman, first round pick Jared Mitchell, DJ LeMahieu, Ryan Schimpf, and Sean Ochinko to just name a few. On the other hand, he names the Virginia Cavaliers as a program who doesn’t have too many holes to fill as their only three key losses were Robert Poutier, Andrew Carraway, and Matt Packer who were not top of the rotation pitchers this past season.
Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com has put out his biggest surprises from the MLB signing deadline on Monday evening. His two biggest surprises that signed are Texas A&M two-way player Brooks Raley and Rice RHP Ryan Berry. Each of them fought through issues during the 2009 season with Raley tiring at the end of the season while Berry was injured during the season which dropped his stock. He also goes over some of the biggest surprises that came back to school with LSU’s Blake Dean and Arizona State’s Josh Spence.

The first article come from Rivals.com which talks about Clovis West High School which has thrown three no-hitters in their first six games of the season. The interesting part is that each of the no-hitters was thrown by a different pitcher. Continue reading
