Purdue to play at Lambert Field this Spring

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Due to delays in the construction of Alexander Field, all Purdue home baseball games will be scheduled at Lambert Field this spring.

Alexander Field is part of the “Northwest Site,” which is located near Cherry Lane and McCormick Road and also houses the soccer complex, tennis facility and cross country course. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 23 with Purdue junior catch Kevin Plawecki. The Carmel, Indiana native attended Westfield High School where he was a four year letter winner. He was a two-time All-Indy North, All-Hoosiers Crossroads and All-Hamilton County selection while leading his team to the State semifinals as a senior. Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 23. Top 100 Countdown: 47. Nick Wittgren (Purdue)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 47 with Purdue junior RHP Nick Wittgren. The Lafayette, Indiana native attended McCutcheon High School where he won three letters in baseball while picking up three in basketball and four in tennis. As a senior, he hit .395 at the plate while striking out 55 on the mound as he was named the team MVP and leading them to a sectional title.  Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 47. Purdue: Black 5 Gold 3

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Black team scored five unanswered runs over the final three innings to rally for a 5-3 victory in game four of the Black and Gold Series Wednesday afternoon, officially claiming a series victory with its third victory of the five-game set at Lambert Field. October 3rd Fall Ball Recap

Here is your Fall Ball Recap for October 3rd.

Purdue: Black 4 Gold 4

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sean McHugh and Stephen Talbott both drove in a pair of runs for their respective teams, but game three of Purdue baseball’s Black and Gold Series was tied 4-4 after nine innings when the game was suspended until next week.

Purdue: Black 11 Gold 10

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An early 8-0 lead helped the Black team withstand a valiant comeback effort and earn an 11-10 victory in game two of Purdue baseball’s Black & Gold Series Friday afternoon at Lambert Field.

Purdue’s New Facility to be named Alexander Field

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University’s new baseball facility will be named Alexander Field in honor of the late John and Anna Margaret Ross Alexander.

The Alexanders were the parents of Dave Alexander, who is giving the lead gift for the project. David Alexander was Purdue baseball coach from 1978 to 1991 and then an athletics administrator through 1994. All three Alexanders graduated from Purdue, and Dave played on Purdue’s baseball team. Purdue promotes Tristan McIntyre to Pitching Coach

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball alumnus Tristan McIntyre has been promoted from volunteer assistant to full-time status and will work with the program’s pitching staff, head coach Doug Schreiber has announced.

McIntyre replaces former colleague Ryan Sawyers, who is returning to his alma mater, West Virginia Wesleyan, to serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator as well as move his family closer to his hometown in Western Maryland.
