Pitt releases 2015 Schedule

PittLogo_thumb.jpgPITTSBURGH–The University of Pittsburgh baseball team today released its 2015 schedule, as announced by head coach Joe Jordano.

The Panther’s opponents include seven teams that appeared in the 2014 College World Series (Florida State, Virginia, Miami, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Kent State, and Youngstown State). 2014 Season Preview: ACC

2013 record: 12 – 40 (4 – 25 ACC, 6th place)

Finish: No postseason

To put it bluntly, the Boston College Eagles were out of their element in ACC conference play in 2013. The Eagles lost their first 20 conference games before surprisingly winning a home series with Miami to get off the schnide.

2014 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

ACCLogoGREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia has been selected as the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches.

Pittsburgh releases 2014 Schedule

PittLogo_thumb.jpgPITTSBURGH—Pitt baseball’s inaugural ACC season will feature seven series against opponents who participated in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, Panthers’ head coach Joe Jordano announced Thursday.

“I really like this schedule,” said Jordano. “I think what you try to do is position your team to play against competition that is capable of playing, and has been successful, in the NCAA Tournament because that’s our goal. That’s where we want to be at the end of the year so to put us in those type of environments is beneficial not only to us as coaches and players but for our program as well and we’ll continue to do that in the future.” Continue reading Pittsburgh releases 2014 Schedule

2013 Preseason Big East Coaches Poll Released


BigEastLogoPROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Louisville Cardinals, who tied for the 2012 BIG EAST regular-season title, have been tabbed as the favorites in 2013 by the league’s 11 head coaches.

The Cardinals, who advanced to the NCAA Championship for the seventh time in 2012, reaching the final of the Tucson Regional, received eight first-place votes and 98 points in the coaches’ preseason poll. Pittsburgh releases 2013 Schedule

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team has released its 2013 schedule, head coach Joe Jordano announced Tuesday. Highlighting the Pitt slate during its final season in the Big East Conference are 10 contests against teams who reached the 2012 postseason and 30 home games played at the Petersen Sports Complex. Pittsburgh adds Jacke Healey as Assistant Coach

PITTSBURGH – Pitt baseball recently completed its coaching staff as head coach Joe Jordano announced the hiring of Jacke Healey as a volunteer assistant. Healey joins pitching coach Jerry Oakes as the two newest members of a staff looking to continue the Panthers’ streak of postseason play.
