Big 12 Weekend Preview

The Big 12 opens the week with a promising schedule. Texas Tech hosts a tournament, while Nebraska and Missouri are both participating in tournaments away from home. No. 6 Texas plays host to Maryland, with No. 5 Oklahoma playing host to William and Mary. Most of the other match-ups favor the Big 12 teams, including no. 32 Baylor/Oral Roberts, no. 16 Texas A&M/LeMoyne, Oklahoma State/Bryant and Kansas State/Pacific. Unfortunately, Kansas travels to Fort Worth to take on no. 3 TCU, which won’t be good for the early season record.

2011 Big West Preseason Poll

Irvine, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton is the predominate favorite in the 2011 Big West Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving all nine first-place votes. The Titans have claimed at least a share of eight of the last 12 titles and a conference-best 15 overall. UC Irvine and UC Riverside found themselves knotted in second place with 65 votes apiece. Receiving 50 points to grab the fourth slot is Cal Poly while Long Beach State rounds out the top five with 47 points.

Pacific releases 2011 Schedule

STOCKTON, Calif. – Forty-two games against California rivals and non-conference match-ups with USC, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Stanford, Cal, Santa Clara and Gonzaga, along with 23 home games and a 24 game Big West slate highlight the 2011 Pacific baseball schedule which head coach Ed Sprague released today. Keith Komeiji added to Pacific Coaching Staff


KeithKomeijiPacific STOCKTON, Calif. – University of the Pacific baseball head coach Ed Sprague announced changes to his staff Wednesday, naming Chris McCormack Director of Baseball Operations and Keith Komeiji as volunteer assistant.

"We’re excited to be able to add someone to our staff with the experience that Keith has," Sprague said. "He’s a tremendous addition which should really help the development of our catching corps."

Big West Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week


Pacific’s John Haberman and Cal State Fullerton’s Noe Ramirez were named the Big West Baseball Field Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Haberman drove in 10 runs for the Tigers in a 4-0 week while Ramirez struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game shutout.
