Top 100 Countdown: 74. Jose Trevino (Oral Roberts)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

Oral Roberts releases 2013 Schedule

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball program released its 2013 schedule, announced by first year head coach Ryan Folmar on Thursday.

ORU opens the season at home on Feb. 15 with a three game set when Saint Louis comes to town, followed by a visit from familiar foe Wichita State for a mid-week contest on Feb. 19. Sean Snedeker added to Oral Roberts Coaching Staff

Oral Roberts hires Ryan Folmar as Head Coach

TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts University has named Ryan Folmar as the ninth Head Baseball Coach in program history, as announced by Athletic Director Mike Carter and ORU President Dr. Mark Rutland on Wednesday morning. Big 12 Quick Hits 2/18

Baylor vs. Oral Roberts (Postponed)

  • Doubleheader scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 12:05 PM.

Kansas 3 Bowling Green 1 (Game 1)

  • Kansas took the lead in the seventh on a two-run single from LF Tucker Tharp.
  • SS Kevin Kuntz led the Jayhawks with two hits. Kansas had six hits total.
  • Freshman LHP Wes Benjamin picked up the win in his first career start, going seven innings and allowing only one run on five hits. Benjamin walked one and struck out three.
  • Tanner Poppe picked up his first save of the season, allowing a hit and striking out a batter in the ninth. Read the rest of this entry »

Big 12 Notes 2/17

BAYLOR 3, ORAL ROBERTS 2

  • Baylor scored a pair in the 8th off a Josh Ludy RBI single and Michael Howard RBI walk.
  • Baylor’s 1-4 hitters were 6-12, with four walks, three runs, and two RBI. The remaining hitters were 0-16 with a pair of walks and an RBI.
  • 1B Max Muncy was 2-2 with two walks and a run.
  • RHP Josh Turley only last 4.2 innings, but he only gave up five hits and allowed a pair of unearned runs. Trent Blank was excellent in relief, picking up the victory with 3.1 innings of work, allowing one hit and a pair of walks. Dillon Newman picked up the save with a perfect ninth. 2012 Summit League Preseason Coaches Poll

Oral Roberts Baseball reaches out to Tulsa Community

Tulsa, Okla. – The ORU baseball team has been focused on more than just baseball these days, and although the baseball season is right around the corner, Head Coach Rob Walton has his team working hard to serve the Tulsa community through various charity and outreach events.

In September the team volunteered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure-a foundation that raises awareness and funds research for breast cancer-helping raise more than $900,000 for the cause. Read the rest of this entry »
