Top 100 Countdown: 33. Bobby Wahl (Ole Miss)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 33 with Ole Miss sophomore RHP Bobby Wahl. The Springfield, virginia native attended West Springfield High School where he was a three year letter winner under John James. He posted a 28-1 record with five saves for his career and a 1.53 ERA while striking out 284 and walking only 40 in 185.0 innings of work. He picked up several awards in high school including being named the 2010 All-State Player of the Year in Virginia and 2010 All-Met Player of the Year by the Washington Post. Continue reading


St. Petersburg Head Coach Rob Francis Arrested in Child Sex Sting


Francis has posted bond of $5,100 and told to stay off the St. Petersburg campus as he was placed on administrative leave.  (Link)

Current St. Petersburg College head baseball coach Rob Francis was arrested as part of a Child Sex Sting in Orlando according to a report in The Orlando Sentinel. Francis has previously served as the director of baseball operations at Ole Miss from 2008-2010 seasons. Continue reading

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – Trailing by as many as three runs in Game 2 of the Black and Gold World Series, the Black team never faltered, rallying for a three-run eighth inning to top the Gold team, 5-4, Thursday afternoon from the baseball complex. LITTLE ROCK - A two-out rally in the top of the third helped the Silver Team claim a 4-3 win in the opener of the UALR Fall World Series Tuesday evening at Gary Hogan Field. Baseball America releases 2011-2012 Recruiting Class Rankings

Baseball America has released their 2011-2012 Recruiting Class rankings for the class that will be eligible for the start of the 2012 season. Leading the pack is the Vanderbilt Commodores which got a first round pick in Tyler Beede among other talented players to Nashville. The rest of the top five is filled out by Texas, Southern Miss, NC State, and Ole Miss.

Ole Miss releases 2012 Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss baseball team will host 32 home dates and play seven series against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco announced on Wednesday with the release of the 2012 baseball schedule.

Season tickets for the upcoming season go on sale in November and season ticket packages remain for the 2012 campaign. Fans are encouraged to secure their spot early in what has become one of the nation’s premiere college baseball atmospheres. Continue reading

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Drew Farber homered and knocked in both runs as UNCW fell to visiting Team USA, 9-2, in a fall baseball exhibition game on Saturday at Brooks Field.

Team USA, backed by home runs off the bats of Jesse Winker and Joey Gallo, took advantage of six Seahawk errors in the field by plating five unearned runs. Continue reading

2011 MLB Draft News and Notes for August 6th

The MLB Signing Deadline is fast approaching as all teams have till midnight on August 15th to sign their prospects or they will head to college. Here is the latest news and notes from around the country.

Clemson signee Daniel Norris,  out Johnson City, TN and Science Hill High School was in Dunedin, Florida to have his physical according to a tweet from Keith Law on Friday afternoon. Norris was selected with the 74th overall pick but was widely considered to be the top lefthanded arm in the 2011 MLB Draft. If the news is true about him being in Dunedin for a physical, it would mean that the Blue Jays have started to seriously consider signing him and a deal could be coming soon.  Continue reading
