COLUMBIA, S.C. – Campbell scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning to top Old Dominion 4-1 Saturday in NCAA Columbia Regional action at Carolina Stadium.

The NCAA Tournament win is Campbell’s first in program history in its second trip. CU also made a NCAA Regional in 1990. Continue reading

COLUMBIA, S.C.  In its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 43 years, Maryland waited until its final at-bat to win its first tournament game since 1970. The Terps completed a come-from-behind victory with three runs in the ninth to walk-off against Old Dominion by the score of 4-3 in the opening game of the Columbia Regional Friday afternoon at Carolina Stadium.   • No. 1 seed South Carolina (42-16). 2. Maryland (36-21). 3. Old Dominion (36-24). 4. Campbell (40-19)
  • South Carolina is making the 30th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history and is in the tournament for the 15th consecutive season.
  • Maryland is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance all-time, but its first since 1971.
  • Old Dominion is making its eighth NCAA appearance all-time, but first since 2000.
  • Campbell won the Big South Conference Tournament championship to earn the school’s third NCAA appearance and first since 1990.

2013 CAA Preseason Coaches Poll

CAA LogoRICHMOND, Va. (January 23, 2013) – UNCW, which captured its third CAA baseball championship in the past nine years last season, has been picked to win the conference title again in 2013 according to a vote of the league’s head baseball coaches.

The Seahawks received five first-place votes and finished atop the poll with 75 points. Hofstra picked up three first-place votes and was second with 69 points. James Madison was chosen third with 62 points and Delaware got two first-place votes and was fourth with 57 points. George Mason placed fifth in the voting, followed by Old Dominion, William & Mary, Towson, Northeastern and Georgia State. Continue reading

Chris Finwood named Head Coach at Old Dominion

Chris Finwood has been hired as the new head coach at Old Dominion according to Tom Robinson of The Virginian Pilot. Finwood has spent the last four seasons in charge of the Western Kentucky program including bringing them to the NCAA Tournament in 2009. This is the second time that current Old Dominion atheltic director Wood Selig would hire Finwood. He also served as the Athletic Director at Western Kentucky when Finwood was hired with the Hilltoppers. Continue reading
