Cape Cod Baseball League Players of the Week (June 23rd)

With the Cape Cod Baseball League running just 10 weeks, each and every game is important for players to make their mark. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks’ Devin Smeltzer (Florida Gulf Coast) has capitalized on it, pitching a no-hitter against Harwich that put him on the radar and earned him Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week honors. Smeltzer is 2-0 with a 1.22 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings.

A native of Voorhees, N.J., Smeltzer pitches for Florida Gulf Coast University. He is entering his junior year with solid stats following the 2015 season, racking up 41 strikeouts in 52 innings of work. Continue reading Cape Cod Baseball League Players of the Week (June 23rd)

Oklahoma State releases 2015 Schedule

oklahoma_stateSTILLWATER, Okla. — Nine NCAA Tournament teams from last season highlight Oklahoma State’s 2015 baseball schedule, which was released today and includes 32 home games for the Cowboys at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

The Cowboys, the reigning Big 12 Conference champions, will host four league series on their home field, while their non-conference foes include the likes of Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington, UNLV, Wichita State, Dallas Baptist and Michigan. 2014 Stillwater Regional: Day 2 Recap

Stillwater, Okla. – Trailing by one run and two outs away from the end of the 2014 season, Nebraska’s offense rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning on its way to a 8-6 win over the Binghamton Bearcats in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The No. 19 Huskers are now 41-20 on the year, and will continue NCAA Tournament play tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. against the loser of tonight’s game between Cal State Fullerton and Oklahoma State. 2014 Stillwater Regional Day 1 Recap

Cal State Fullerton 5 Nebraska 1

STILLWATER, Okla. – For six innings, the Cal State Fullerton offense was dormant in their opening game of their Regional opener. But J.D. Davis jolted it back to life with a grand slam in the eighth inning which proved to be the difference as the Titans upended No. 19 Nebraska 5-1 Friday afternoon at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Davis went 2-for-4 for the Titans (33-22), driving in four runs and extending his hitting streak to 13 games in the process. He was the only Titans player to collect multiple hits against the Cornhuskers (40-20) pitching staff but it proved to be enough. It was also the Titans eighth straight win.
