EVANSTON, Ill. – Home series against Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue and Indiana as well as a contest at Miller Park in Milwaukee highlight the 2012 Northwestern baseball schedule announced today (Dec. 5).
The Wildcats open their slate Feb. 17-19 as they take part in the Big Ten/Big East Challenge in St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., facing West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Seton Hall. Nebraska: White 12 Red 7
Lincoln – The White team polished off a three-game sweep of the Red squad on Saturday in the Nebraska baseball team’s annual Red-White Series by a score of 12-7. Michael Pritchard, Kash Kalkowski and Michael Siwa each had three hits for the Whites, including two doubles and two RBIs for Kalkowski, as well as a triple and double for Siwa. The Red’s Chad Christensen blasted the first and only home run of the series with a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning for his only hit of the game. Junior Luke Farrell‘s (Northwestern) journey to the Cape League proved to be longer than many players who have passed through these fields.

Farrell went the distance versus Brewster this week, giving up only an unearned run while striking out five. Farrell earned the win in the 2-1 victory.
