Northeastern releases 2015 Schedule

BOSTON – Northeastern baseball head coach Mike Glavine announced the program’s 2015 schedule on Monday. The Huskies will navigate a challenging slate of non-conference games on top of a competitive CAA schedule.

South Carolina highlights the list of non-conference opponents Northeastern will battle this season along with St. Joseph’s, Bryant, Connecticut, and Hartford. During the course of the 2015 campaign, the Huskies will face five teams that had .600 or better winning percentages in 2014, three teams that finished with 40 or more wins, and three NCAA Regional teams, including College of Charleston who advanced to the Super Regional round. Northeastern to name Mike Glavine as Head Coach after 2014 Season

GlavineCollege Baseball Daily has learned that Northeastern will promote assistant coach Mike Glavine to Head Coach replacing Neil McPhee as head coach at the end of the 2014 season. Glavine has served as an assistant with the Huskies for the last four years serving as the Recruiting Coordinator while working with the infielders and hitters.

The news will be announced tomorrow at 10am during an athletic department press conference.  Continue reading

2013 CAA Preseason Coaches Poll

CAA LogoRICHMOND, Va. (January 23, 2013) – UNCW, which captured its third CAA baseball championship in the past nine years last season, has been picked to win the conference title again in 2013 according to a vote of the league’s head baseball coaches.

The Seahawks received five first-place votes and finished atop the poll with 75 points. Hofstra picked up three first-place votes and was second with 69 points. James Madison was chosen third with 62 points and Delaware got two first-place votes and was fourth with 57 points. George Mason placed fifth in the voting, followed by Old Dominion, William & Mary, Towson, Northeastern and Georgia State. Continue reading

NCBWA releases National Players of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released its National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 29, today. Southeast Missouri sophomore outfielder Derek Gibson was named National Hitter of the Week, while Northeastern junior left-hander Kevin Ferguson was named National Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Continue reading
