St. John’s will name Corey Muscara as pitching coach according to CBD sources close to the situation. Muscara served as an assistant coach last season at Southern New Hampshire where he helped lead the Penmen to a 43-15 overall record and 12-9 in the Northeast-10 conference. He spent the 2010-2011 season at Binghamton under Tim Sinicki after spending the previous two seasons with Southern New Hampshire. More information will be available soon.

Former Quinnipiac star transitions to the Gridiron
Former Quinnipiac baseball player Mickey Amanti is spending his final year of collegiate eligibility playing football at Division 2 Southern Connecticut State. Last season, Amanti lead the team in batting average (.306), hits (57) and runs (31) during his senior season but decided to spend his last year of college sports on the gridiron. NECBL Playoffs Recap for August 3rd
The second day of the NECBL playoffs took place on Tuesday August 3rd with only one series being completed while the other three series will go to a winner take all game 3 on Wednesday night. The Newport Gulls completed the sweep to advance to the NECBL Eastern Division Final with a 3-0 victory over the Laconia Muskrats. They will face the winner of the Sanford Mainers and North Shore Navigators series on Thursday evening in Newport. Sanford forced a deciding Game 3 on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over North Shore. The Danbury Westerners picked up a 5-3 victory over the Bristol Collegiate Baseball Club while North Adams Steeple Cats picked up a 6-4 victory over the Keene Swamp Bats.

Joseph Flynn, Wareham RHP
Joseph Flynn (Franklin Pierce) of Wareham has embraced his new role as starter, earning the Coca Cola Pitcher of the Week honor in his first week on the job.
Before the beginning of this week, Flynn had been a reliable middle reliever for the Gatemen, allowing five earned runs in 12.1 innings over nine appearances. But in his two starts this week, Flynn proved he belongs in the starting rotation.

SYRACUSE, NY – LeMoyne College has announced its intention to reclassify its baseball program from Division I to Division II effective August 1, 2011. The College will follow the defined NCAA reclassification process, with the intent to compete alongside its 16 other programs as a member of the Division II Northeast-10 Conference.

LANTANA, Fla. (March 15, 2010) – Junior right-hander Jose Macias (Bronx, N.Y.) threw a no-hitter on Monday afternoon to lead the No. 14/20 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University baseball team to an 11-0 victory over Saint Michael’s in neutral-site, non-conference play at Santaluces Sports Complex. Earlier in the day, junior third baseman Derek Ingui (Sterling, Mass.)clubbed a two-run home run as the Ravens rallied from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Nyack, 5-4.
With the wins, Franklin Pierce improves to 9-1 (0-0 Northeast-10) and extends its winning streak to six games.
