North Florida releases 2015 Schedule

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team will open up its 2015 season at Harmon Stadium on Friday, Feb. 13th against Virginia Military Institute as part of a three-game, season-opening series. The Ospreys unveiled the rest of their 2015 schedule that includes 31 home games.

The Ospreys go into their fifth season under the direction of Head Coach Smoke Laval who has compiled 120 wins and appeared in back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference Tournaments. Always equipped with a plethora of talent, North Florida has produced five Major League Baseball draft picks in the past two seasons. Continue reading

North Florida releases 2014 Schedule

SmokeLavalUNF_thumb.jpgJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team announced its 2014 schedule. The 55-game schedule consists of 26 home games at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium and features 15 games against teams that competed in the 2013 NCAA Regionals.

The Ospreys finished the 2013 campaign with a Division I program best 40-19 record including a 24-9 mark at home. Along with its 26 home dates, UNF will play a total of 34 games within the borders of Florida. Continue reading


2013 Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches Poll

atlanticsunlogo.jpgMACON, Ga. – For the second time in the past three seasons, FGCU and Mercer shared the top spot in the Atlantic Sun Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll. The two teams previously tied in the 2011 poll. The Eagles and Bears both compiled 81 points in the poll with Mercer earning three first-place votes and FGCU receiving two first-place nods. North Florida Releases 2012 Schedule Chock Full Of Tournament Teams

The University of North Florida released their 2012 baseball schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The Atlantic Sun school will host 27 games on their home field, Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium.

The Ospreys schedule kicks of February 17th against Southern Illinois. In March and April, the team will host Florida, national runners-up this past season. North Florida will also face 2011 NCAA Tournament teams Bethune-Cookman, Georgia Southern and Stetson. Continue reading


2011 Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches Poll

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun’s reigning regular-season and tournament champions, FGCU and Mercer shared the top spot in the preseason coaches’ poll, the conference announced on Thursday. ETSU’s Paul Hoilman, the 2010 Player of the Year unanimously earned the preseason tag while FGCU’s all-conference starting pitcher, Richie Erath, received the Preseason Pitcher of the Year honor. 2011 CBD Season Preview: Atlantic Sun

The 2010 Atlantic Sun regular season saw Florida Gulf Coast dominate the conference with a 25-5 conference mark as second place Mercer finished six games back with a 16-11 record. East Tennessee State finished a game behind the Bears with a 15-12 record. North Florida and Jacksonville finished tied for fourth place with a 14-12 record. Stetson rounded out the qualifiers for the Atlantic Sun postseason tournament with a 14-13 record. Belmont at 13-13, Kennesaw State at 12-15, Lipscomb at 9-17, and Campbell at 8-19 were on the outside looking in at the postseason tournament while USC-Upstate went 8-19 as they were not eligible for the A-Sun tournament as they are undergoing an NCAA Reclassifying period. North Florida releases 2011 Schedule


SmokeLavalUNFJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida officially announced the 2011 baseball schedule that consists of 55 games, including 26 games at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium.

“I feel like we have put together a challenging schedule this season,” head coach Smoke Laval stated. “We have a good balance of games at home and games on the road this season. We play eight games against teams that played in NCAA Regionals last season, including Florida who made it all the way to Omaha [for the College World Series]. Also, we start Atlantic Sun play early this year so right out of the gate the intensity level will be raised. I think this will be a fun season for UNF baseball.”
