2013 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll

ACCLogoGREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State has been selected as the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

The Wolfpack was named by six coaches as this year’s ACC team to beat, while North Carolina received four votes, and Florida State and Virginia one each. Continue reading

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Will Roberts (Jr., Richmond, Va.) worked into the eighth inning in an outstanding pitching performance, and the No. 1-ranked Virginia baseball team scored four runs in the seventh inning in a 5-4 victory over No. 16 Miami Sunday afternoon in front of a season-high 4,700 fans at Davenport Field. Virginia honored its six fourth-year student-athletes as well as manager Rod Larson in Senior Day ceremonies following the game. Continue reading

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Tyler Wilson (Sr., Midlothian, Va.) gave up just one hit and struck out 11 over 7.2 innings of dominant work to propel the No. 1-ranked Virginia baseball team to a 3-2 victory over No. 16 Miami Saturday afternoon at Davenport Field. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The eighth-ranked Virginia baseball team used a career-high 7.2 scoreless innings from starter Will Roberts (Jr., Richmond, Va.) in shutting out Niagara, 7-0, Wednesday at Davenport Field. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Releases 2011 Preseason Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. — Texas Christian University is ranked No. 1 in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll.

The Horned Frogs finished third at the College World Series last season and return a deep and experienced ball club for 2011. Seven position player starters are back along with three Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-American starting pitchers in LHP Matt Purke (16-0, 3.02 ERA, 142 K, 34 BB), RHP Kyle Winkler (12-3, 3.39 ERA, 92 K, 36 BB), and RHP Steven Maxwell (11-2, 2.70 ERA, 93 K, 34 BB).
